30 Days with Mary – Day 26

Sleepless nights

Sleepless nights are terrible and seem to never end. When insomnia hits and we impatiently try to fall asleep, it can feel like a real martyrdom.

Sometimes, with a little patience, our body relaxes and we are able to fall asleep. On other occasions, even the tic-toc of our alarm clocks can feel like torture.

For moments like that, Saint Alphonsus offers us some advice: “Remember Our Lady, such a good mother – consoling the afflicted, healing the sick – and pray a Hail Mary. At every moment, offer your sufferings and troubles to the Heart of Jesus. In your thoughts, go before the tabernacle, from where Our Lord watches throughout the night and does not sleep, for love! And when dawn breaks, after seven, eight hours of insomnia, rejoice by offering Jesus the treasures of patience acquired during the night”.

We live in a world where many suffer countless nights of insomnia, where many treasures of graces are lost due to impatience. Nevertheless, Our Lady wants to help everyone.
